Short story, if I feel like I earned an ending the game doesn't give me one, I feel cheated even if the ending is readily available on YouTube. Even if I finished the bare minimum and earned the basic ending the "right" way, I would've lost all momentum and just been frustrated at the chores the game was making me do. The game failed me, stumbled at the finish line.

I looked up the basic ending on YouTube (then the full ending for kicks), but the moment was lost. And that killed my immersion, the story I was enjoying left with a sour taste in my mouth. Then I got a screen that said "remember all those side missions you were ignoring because you thought they were boring? Well you need to pick 3 of those things to finish before your emotional release".

I stayed up late the night I finished the main narrative knowing I was close to the end, I was immersed, I was ready for the emotional release of what this series of games brought me as a Batman fan. However, the fact that I have to complete an extra several hours of side content I'd started to ignore after I found them boring just to get a story ending feels. That would be cool, too.Īs someone that is a "completionist when it's convenient and fun", that's exactly what I did when I was finished with Knight. I heard rumor that Batman Beyond might be the next game. Maybe access to the full gadget and vehicle arsenal, or maybe you go back to the roots and do Batman Year One as a game. We all obviously expect an open-world Gotham and big story with great villains. Arkham Origins was the weakest - it was to weak and repetitive. The side missions were pretty great all in all. The tank mode was fine, just a little annoying. I get the car thing a bit, there was a lot of that, but I thought driving around was good (you need to use the grill camera). Is everyone annoyed that Batman's identity was exposed and he left? I feel like the same people hated Dark Knight Rises and TLJ - as they don't want their hero's to go away. It's an improvement on the last 2 in gameplay and mechanics. The inclusion of The Joker was a stroke of genius. I just played it through the second time and still loved it. Rocksteady still doesn't know how to PC controls.A gaming sub free from the hype and oversaturation of current releases, catering to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game. I was bracing myself for the worst when it came to the Batmobile, but it's actually pretty good, and nowhere near as "always being forced on you" as people were saying.ĭoesn't have setpiece levels or bossfights on the level of City, but it makes up for that in other areas IMO.īe ready to do some rebinding though. It's Arkham City, only bigger, and you have a Batmobile now. Based on the DC Comics superhero Batman, it is the successor to 2013’s Batman: Arkham Origins and the fourth main installment in the Batman: Arkham series. I'd heard a lot of criticisms about it, but very little was born out in my experience. Batman: Arkham Knight is an action-adventure video game developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. If one is still running on hardware with specs from the 32-bit era, I don't think the game can be fairly blamed for that.
I've played many games that were far worse yet still worth it. So for me at least, this has been pretty smooth, and on par with most "normal" games in terms of bugs. Only happened once in the entire playthrough so far. Had one crash that was apparently caused by transitioning to a hacking/bomb defusing minigame UI. This stopped after the first session, and hasn't happened since. Tabbing out and back in solved it each time. Maybe 4 times in the first session I had random FPS slowdowns. Rare (I think I've only noticed it maybe 3 times), and it's always something that'd be easy to miss, so It hasn't bothered me. A few occasional minor bugs, but nothing outside the margin I'd expect for any game.Įvery once in while I'll see an object "floating" above where it's supposed to be. I've made it all the way though the main story, and am now mopping up the remaining side content. I got it last week, and have been playing it since.
